Ninth Annual Back to School Scramble Benefiting the Fort Bend
Education Foundation
Plan now to play in the ninth annual
Fort Bend Education Foundation Back to School Scramble golf
tournament set for Monday, August 24, 2009 at Sweetwater Country
Club.
Schlumberger and Sweetwater Country Club are presenting the “Back to
School Scramble” chaired by Ron Bailey and Rod Nelson. Lunch
provided by Chick-fil-A. Your entry fee includes lunch, golf and
cart, beverages, reception after the tournament and special gifts.
Foursome teams are $1,000.00 and individual entries are $275.00.
Over $261,000 was awarded in grants to teachers and schools for the
2008-2009 school year. Since the Foundation’s inception in 1992, the
Foundation has awarded over $2,500,000 in grants to Fort Bend ISD
teachers and schools to fund innovative teaching ideas.
The Education Foundation has partnered with the school district and
created the “Grants for Experts” program. Fort Bend ISD teachers
received the benefit of in-service training from nationally
recognized education experts in such topics as classroom management,
differentiated learning strategies, and character development.
The Fort Bend Education Foundation has also implemented additional
programs such as Angel Gifts which provides teachers, just beginning
their teacher career, a gift certificate to a local teachers’ supply
store to help set up their classrooms.
Your participation in the annual “Back to School Scramble” helps
make our mission a reality. All proceeds from the “Back to School
Scramble” benefit the Fort Bend Education Foundation.

“Fort
Bend Fabulous”! International Festival and Model Search now seeking models,
volunteers, and entertainment groups.
The 4th annual festival presented by the Fort
Bend Education Foundation is scheduled to take place Saturday, November 7,
2009, from 10:00 am to 3:00 p.m. in Sugar Land Town Square. The event
celebrates the tremendous diversity of cultures in our school district by
highlighting their unique traditions, arts, and foods.
The Fort Bend Education Foundation is partnering with Page Parkes
Corporation to conduct a model search. Page Parkes is the largest model and
talent agency in the southwest United States and has been instrumental in
launching the careers of many famous faces. The model search is open to
children in grades kindergarten through 12 residing in Fort Bend County. For
application information email the Foundation at fbef@fortbend.k12.tx.us. We
will accept applications on September 26th at Wheeler Field House located at
16403 Lexington Blvd. in Sugar Land. The model and talent search finale will
take place from 2:00-3:00 during the festival. Representatives from Page
Parkes will judge the contestants on the runway during a fashion show and on
their speaking presentation. Six winners will each receive a $1,500
scholarship to Page Parkes and a professional photo shoot complete with
hair, makeup, and three looks.
The international festival will showcase booths from 18 different countries
from all over the world. Entertainment will be provided on the steps of City
Hall by talented artists and students of FBISD schools as well as various
local dance and music programs. Area restaurants will provide a sampling of
international cuisines. Students will enjoy the “Learn and Play Booth” where
they can experience toys and games of different cultures. Elementary age
children will receive a “Passport” for visiting each country and an
international goody bag when they leave.
Any individuals or groups interested in representing their country at
this event should contact the Fort Bend Education Foundation at
281-634-1110. Booths are limited and will be assigned on a first come basis.
The Fort Bend Education Foundation provides opportunities to enrich and
enhance the quality of education for all Fort Bend ISD students through our
Grants to Teachers and Schools program. Since its inception in 1992, the
